Fireworks set for June 28 on TV only and shot off at St. Clair Metropark

There will be fireworks this year. Like last year you will only be able to see the display on WDIV Local 4.

In another change the fireworks won’t be shot off at the traditional location in downtown Detroit. The Parade Company has partnered with Huron-Clinton Metroparks at the Lake St. Clair Metropark location for this year’s broadcast-only Ford Fireworks show. The park will not be open to the public on June 28.

The Parade Company expects to return to Detroit for the Ford Fireworks in 2022.

A longtime supporter of the fireworks, Ford and its philanthropic arm, Ford Motor Company Fund, plan to honor and thank teachers, professors and school counselors who have gone above and beyond for their students and community throughout the past school year.

Details of Ford’s special salute to educators will be available at www.clickondetroit.com beginning next week.

“During this year’s fireworks, we are planning a special salute to teachers and educators throughout metro Detroit who have done so much to help our youth get through this challenging year,” says Mary Culler, president, Ford Motor Company Fund.

This year’s Rooftop Party presented by Ford will not occur. For details, please visit theparade.org.

“We have an unwavering commitment to this tradition, which has brought us together as one for over six decades,” says Tony Michaels, president and CEO, The Parade Company. “We are grateful for our many amazing partners who are joining efforts to make this possible including Ford, WDIV Local 4 and Huron-Clinton Metroparks who have stepped up as a good neighbor in a very big way.”
