Join the most meatless meet-up in the city. “V313,” a gathering described as “Detroit’s Premier Vegan Celebration,” is set to kick off from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 8 inside Eastern Market Shed No. 5.
Featuring music, comedy, games and other activities, the event invites metro Detroiters interested in exploring, or already participating in, the lifestyle of plant-based dieters and consumers. Dishes made from plant-based recipes will be a highlight, including offerings from local restaurants and food truck vendors, such as Detroit Vegan Soul, The Nosh Pit Detroit, The Clean Plate, Crepe Day Twah, and Shimmy Shack.
Fifty vegan-friendly exhibitors, many offering samples, prizes and incentives, will also be present. Dr. Milton Mills, of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, Black Vegans Rock, and YouTube personality Mic the Vegan, are scheduled as part of the lineup, along with panel discussions, free massages by Myomassology Institute and interactive games including “Crazy Vegan Jeopardy” and “Veg Speed Date” for singles attending.
“We’re excited to bring this first major vegan event to the city of Detroit, whose vegan community is among the most dynamic in the country,” says John Batdorf, event manager and general manager of presenting organization MI Green Team. “The issues are serious, in terms of adopting a healthier, more sustainable and compassionate lifestyle, but the event will be seriously fun.”
For tickets, which cost $15 and include parking, visit V313.info or purchase them at the event. Additional information is available at migreenteam.com/events.
