Top 10 Things to Do with Your Family This Weekend in Detroit and Around Town

With the opening of Greenfield Village, spring blooms along hiking trails and beautiful biking paths, there are lots of fun, family-friendly activities to keep your tots, tweens and teens active throughout Detroit and areas nearby.

Try out a new play. Check out the eggs at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Or head over to Greenfield Village to take a walk through its exhibits and ride on a Model T.

EASTER EGG HUNT. Easter egg hunts abound this weekend. One of our favorites is hosted by Grandmont Rosedale.

MURALS IN THE MARKET. Head to Eastern Market on Saturday or Sunday to check out the tasty vendors as well as take a walking tour of the market’s unique pieces of art that are found throughout this local gem.

SPRING NATURE HIKE. Crosswinds Marsh is awash with spring blooms this weekend. Get out on the boardwalk to see an eagle or two, egrets and watch newly- hatched ducklings and other waterfowl paddle through the marshes.

Visit one of the largest manmade marshes in Wayne County and take a 1 1/2-mile hike across its boardwalks or walk the eight short trails. VISIT THE VILLAGE. Greenfield Village has officially reopened for the season! Grab the family and get out for an enjoyable day of fun visiting its working farm, logging area and the Edison workshop, where the famous inventor created many of his inventions.
