Police to host family fun in Southwest Detroit June 15

Detroit Police officers want to remind the city they don’t just patrol the community, they are a part of it.

As part of their neighborhood outreach efforts, the Fourth Precinct Southwestern District’s “Family Fun Day” is making its annual return. Soda, hot dogs, face-painting, music and games are all part of the scheduled events and attractions from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. June 15 at the precinct, 4700 Fort St.

Police will showcase a department-owned helicopter, along with demonstrations by their canine unit, bomb squad and mounted police division. Coordinated by the Police Community Relations division, “Family Fun Day” is free and open to the public.
