New Michigan WIC Connect app puts information at clients’ fingertips

Sometimes it can be difficult for clients to find the information they need about the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.

Now a new free app called Michigan WIC Connect will put all the information at their fingertips.

Michigan WIC Connect lets clients book appointments, check benefits, locate information about specific programs, , view food benefits and more.

The mobile app from the MDHHS will give WIC participants the opportunity to view upcoming appointments, check benefits and locate information about specific programs. They will also be able to view food benefits that have been issued to them in the clinic and scan UPCs while shopping at the store to see if the UPC is a WIC Approved item or not.

In addition, the app supplies locations of WIC Stores and WIC Clinics across Michigan and the client’s WIC contact information.

The app is available for free in the App Store and Google Play.

“We are very excited to offer Michigan WIC Connect to Michigan families,” says Stan Bien, Michigan WIC Director. “WIC Connect is another step forward toward accomplishing our vision of having a major positive impact on improving health outcomes for clients, being recognized as a national leader and achieving excellent customer satisfaction.”

WIC is a federally funded program that provides nutritious food, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and support and referrals to health and other services for eligible women, infants and children up to age 5.
