Detroiters can now conveniently pay their water bill at 28 kiosk locations in and around the city
As part of its wide-reaching efforts to improve the lives of its residents, the City of Detroit along with its Water and Sewerage Department is offering new options that will make paying a water or sewer bill more convenient and easier than ever.
The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) is now part of the DivDat Kiosk Network, joining DTE Energy and the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office. Detroit water and sewer customers can make payments on their accounts at 37 kiosks at 28 locations in and around the city, including 24-hour sites.
On March 27, DWSD began a soft-launch of its participation on the kiosk network prior to a full roll-out that began recently. The kiosks offer language options for English, Spanish and Arabic.
The option to pay Detroit water bills on the kiosks are the first step in DWSD’s new “skip the line” initiative which is intended to reduce customer wait time by using technology. Additional features will roll-out in the coming months.
“We want to give our customers the convenience that the 28-location DivDat Kiosk Network offers,” said Gary Brown, DWSD director. “No longer will our customers have to wait in line at a DWSD Customer Care Center to pay their water bill, or rearrange their schedule to come to our centers. Many of the kiosk locations are open seven days-a-week.”
Brown continued, “Expanding our bill payment locations, conveniently near our customers’ home or work will help them avoid late payments. We are pleased to join DTE Energy and the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office on the DivDat Payment Kiosk Network.”
Detroit water and sewer customers may visit a kiosk to:
• Pay with cash, personal check or credit with no extra fee;
• Review account information using service address or account number, or scan their bill;
• Have the payment applied to their account the same day; and
• Conveniently pay near home or work.
The 37 kiosks are at the following 28 locations: Fifteen Rite Aid stores in and around Detroit; Coleman A. Young Municipal Center (10th floor); four DTE Energy Payment Centers; three DWSD Customer Care Centers; Wayne County Treasurer’s Office; and four other locations.
