Ah! Pizza night! We all look forward to it.
How about if we call a pizza night on Monday, April 16?
That’s the day Buddy’s Pizza has partnered with the Capuchin Soup Kitchen to feed hungry Detroiters during the annual “Slice for Life” fundraiser. From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on that day you can purchase a ticket and visit any Buddy’s Pizza full-service to enjoy all-you-can-eat two-topping pizzas and salad. A carry-out option is also available at all 12 Buddy’s Pizza locations and includes either a four-square two-topping pizza or a medium sized antipasto, Greek or house salad.
“Our team looks forward to the Slice for Life event every year,” says Wes Pikula, Buddy’s Pizza COO. “We’re thankful to have built a strong partnership with the Capuchin Soup Kitchen over the last 40 years, allowing us to help people in our community who are struggling.”
This year, Buddy’s Pizza aims to raise $100,000 during the Slice for Life event, to add onto the $3 million the restaurant raised previously for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen. For more than 40 years, the money Buddy’s raised has played an integral part in the Soup Kitchen’s programs, including preparing and serving 2,000 meals a day; distributing household items, and operating a shower program, food pantry and a children’s tutoring and art therapy program.
“Buddy’s Pizza has supported the Capuchin Soup Kitchen through its Slice for Life event for more than four decades,” says Br. Jerry Johnson, executive director of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen. “When members of our community order a Buddy’s Pizza pie April 16, they’re helping the hungry to enjoy a hot, nourishing meal at the Soup Kitchen. Many do not realize that the Capuchin Soup Kitchen depends primarily on donations. We don’t receive any government assistance, hence the reason why this event is so important to us. We appreciate all that Buddy’s Pizza does for the Capuchins and for the Soup Kitchen.”
Tickets for the 42nd annual Slice for Life fundraiser are $15 for adults and $7 for children. Advance tickets can be purchased online at https://www.cskdetroit.org/Buddys, or by calling 313.579.2100 ext. 170. Tickets will also be available at the door. All ticket holders may also register to win one 8-square Buddy’s Pizza every month for one year.
