Check your dollar bills on Monday, June 12. They could be worth $100, $5,000 or $10,000.
Ally Financial will circulate 500 of its “Hardest Working Dollars” around Detroit that day to underscore its commitment to be “home of the hardest working dollar.”
A mystery “dollar dropper” will put the worn bills into circulation across the city, You might get them back in change at local establishments, such as convenience stores, coffee shops and diners, anywhere cash is widely used. You can check your $1 bills at allyhardestworkingdollar.com to see if you won $100, $5,000 or $10,000.
Ally is using a group of costumed George Washingtons to kick off its Hardest Working Dollars campaign. It makes sense to use George. We see his face every day on the $1 bill and probably don’t pay much attention to it. Ally, however, points out that face and those $1 billstake a beating every day. Think of how many times you either give out or receive a dollar. How many times you jam it in our wallet or purse. Ally feels sorry for those dollars and wants to show you how they can turn into big money.
The“Georges” will pass out breakfast pastries downtown so be sure and look for them. They’ll also visit hard-working commuters, volunteers, first responders, food bank workers, and commuters, in pop-up spots across the city.
“We believe being an ally for our customers’ financial well-being means encouraging them to focus on the products and services that will improve their financial lives for the long run,” says Diane Morais, president of Consumer & Commercial Banking Products at Ally Bank. “Our hope is that this campaign will get Detroiters to look at their dollars and think – could my hard-earned dollars be working even harder for me?”
A visit to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan is also on the agenda, where Ally will present the staff with a donation and treat volunteers to refreshments. In addition, there will be a celebration for the men and women of the Detroit Police Department.
Ally is running the same campaign in 15 cities nationwide.
