There are many, many powerful and influential women leaders in southeast Michigan.
On Thursday, April 19 more than 700 of them will gather at the 25th annual Women’s Power Breakfast and use that power and influence to raise dollars for Gleaners Community Food Bank to help stamp out hunger in our region.
This year’s breakfast, which marks a quarter century of working with Gleaners, will be held at Little Caesars Arena from 7:00-9:00 a.m.
“The Women’s Power Breakfast continues to be a special event because it was founded on the idea that women can do anything they put their minds to,” says Dulcie Rosenfeld, Women’s Power Breakfast founder.
The breakfast kicks off Gleaners’ Million Meal Match, a month-long campaign with a goal of raising one million meals for hungry children. This year, Gleaners is focused on making investments in the lives of kids to make sure they grow up healthy, happy, and hopeful.
The campaign runs through May 22 culminating with the 5th annual Women’s Power Happy Hour. PNC Bank is the campaign’s match sponsor.
One in five Michigan children face hunger and nearly 300,000 school-age children in southeast Michigan are eligible for free or reduced-fee school meals. Normally, $1 provides three meals but during the Million Meal Match, $1 provides six meals for hungry children across southeast Michigan.
PNC Bank is the Presenting Sponsor of the Women’s Power Breakfast and Delta Airlines is the Children’s Hunger Champion sponsor.
Since 1994, more than 9,000 attendees of Gleaners’ Women’s Power events (breakfast and happy hour) helped raise more than $3.2 million.
