Looking for summer fun for your young teen? Check out this free camp

The school year is nearly finished, and students across Detroit area are prepared to celebrate. But parents may feel stressed, wondering how they’ll keep those young minds and bodies busy during the summer months.

That’s where summer camp comes in. Bethany Lutheran Church is hosting a series of free summer camps for ages 11 to 14 from July 10 through August 18 at its location on Outer Drive in Detroit. The camps go from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Entitled “Youth on the Edge of Greatness,” the summer camps boost all kinds of education, including financial, technology and the arts. It also features fun fitness activities, including basketball, cheerleading and more. Plus, there are field trips each Friday.

Parents are asked to attend a mandatory orientation sessions before their student or students can participate. Sessions will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 20; 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22 and 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24. These sessions are held at the Eastside Community Network offices at 4401 Conner in Detroit.
