Speak Redevelopment: Detroit partners hope to spark a dialogue between neighbors
Once the story that got ignored, Detroit’s neighborhoods are now at the center of the conversation. With a flood of new investment, stable — and in some cases rising — housing values, and the general election around the corner, there’s plenty to talk about.

In the midst of it all is a new crop of community-based organizations that are leading the charge, collaborating with like-minded partners in an effort to lift up neighborhood residents and ensure that their voices are heard when it comes to development-related activities.

This coming Tuesday, August 29, Pleasant Heights Economic Development Corporation (PHBE) in partnership with All Four One Detroit will hold a Socio-Economic Forum to discuss a broad array of issues impacting neighborhood residents in South Central Detroit.

On the table: affordable housing, business development, strengthening Detroit’s neighborhoods, and gaining access to community resources.

Panelists will include representatives from:

  • Quicken Loans: Jared Fleisher, VP of Government Affairs for Economic Development
  • City of Detroit: Arthur Jemison Housing Revitalization Department
  • Private Banks:  Teresa M. Bent Senior Community Lending Mortgage Banker
  • Business Owners

The event will be held at the Dexter Elmhurst Center and is free and open to the public.
