For every Detroit teen that dreamed of being Cinderella or Beyonce in a ball gown, a Wayne County Commissioner wants to make that dream come true for the 10th year in a row.
Alisha Bell, a second-generation commissioner, will host her annual Belle of the Ball event from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Cub, 16500 Tireman in Detroit. Delicious sequin and satin gowns donated by a generous community will be available for girls to try on and take their favorites while supply lasts.
Girls also can take purses, shoes and jewelry to accessorize, and truly be “Belles of the Ball.”
“This will truly be a special event,” said Bell in a prepared statement. Staffers delight in seeing young ladies twirl in their pretty gowns. Last year 75 girls were able to attend the prom with a donated dress. Because no one should stay home on this very special night.
