There is no better time to get out and enjoy the summer weather in the city. Here are LittleGuide Detroit’s suggestions for family fun this weekend.

Thursday, July 12: Get into the rhythm at Eliza Howell African Drum and Dance in the Park.

Thursday, July 12 & Friday, July 13: Grab a book and head down to the riverfront for an afternoon of free live children’s music and rides on the Cullen Family Carousel at Reading and Rhythm on the Riverfront.

Friday, July 13: Enjoy a night of fresh air and watch The Lego Ninjago Movie @ New Center Park. 

Friday, July 13: Learn about all things out of this world at Summer Planetarium Shows @ Wayne State University.

Friday, July 13: Have a ball as you watch basketball legends at Big3 Basketball @ Little Caesars Arena.

Friday, July 13 – Sunday, July 15: Enjoy the story of a hip-hop robot who just wants to be human at Puppet Performance @ the DIA.

Saturday, July 14: Get outside for National Parks and Recreation Month at Game Day @ Outdoor Adventure Center.

Saturday, July 14: Run for a kids WITH kids at the Goah Noah Fun Run @ Belle Isle State Park.

Sunday, July 15: Make a kite on site or bring your own to the Detroit Kite Festival @ Belle Isle State Park.

Sunday, July 15: Enjoy an afternoon of arts and crafts at the Kids Open Studio @ Bohomodern Studio.
