With the 4th of July holiday in the middle of the week it’s time to find some great things to do in Detroit when the backyard barbeques are over. Here’s LittleGuide Detroit’s suggests for family-friendly fun.

Thursday, July 5: Get into the rhythm at Eliza Howell Park’s African Drum and Dance in the Park.

Thursday, July 5 & Friday, July 6: Get ready for storytime with Reading and Rhythm on the Riverfront. You can also enjoy free live children’s music and rides on the Cullen Family Carousel at Rivard  Plaza.

Friday, July 6: No frogs here! Bring your blankets and enjoy Princess and the Frog @ New Center Park.

Saturday, July 7 & Sunday, July 8: Become part of the show and learn how the Wright Brothers first took flight at the DIA’s Puppet Performance.

Saturday, July 7: Stop by N’Namdi Movement Center and drop into an Art & Movement or Pre Ballet class with Lil Dumplins.

Saturday, July 7: Take a Hike with the Outdoor Adventure Center and enjoy the sunshine, while exploring Milliken State Park and the Dequindre Cut.

Saturday, July 7: Learn how to cook at the Kids Summer Cooking Classes @ Eastern Market.

Saturday, July 7: Find your Zen at Kids Yoga @ Palmer Park.

Sunday, July 8: Don’t miss FREE Second Sunday at the Charles H. Wright Museum.

Sunday, July 8:  Get ready for Hands-On Music Fun at Beacon Park’s Family Day.

Sunday, July 8: Pack a picnic blanket and enjoy the summer weather at National Picnic Month @ the Outdoor Adventure Center.

Sunday, July 8: Enjoy an afternoon of arts and crafts at the Kids Open Studio @ Boho Mini Studio.
