Sunday dinner is a long-established tradition in countless American households, and now a downtown Detroit small business is inviting the community to its version of the favorite family meal.
House of Pure Vin recently announced its “Last Sunday Supper Pure Vin Experience” series, welcoming the city to enjoy creations by local chefs, combined with wine offerings sold at the store. Tickets are available for the next dinner event at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at the shop, 1433 Woodward Ave., where smoked Gulf shrimp, fried Cornish hen, turnip, mustard, and collard greens are among the entrees. Wine, hors d’oeuvres and dessert are included with the $75 cost of admission.
“Last Sunday Supper Pure Vin Experience is a unique dining experience that showcases the culinary dishes and talents of Detroit minority and female chefs, paired with some of the best wines from Michigan and around the world, carried in our shop” says Regina Gaines, managing partner at House of Pure Vin. “Wine is the original social medium that brings people together. What better way to enjoy a last Sunday of the month with an afternoon dinner than with one of Detroit’s hottest chefs, and our great wines curated by House of Pure Vin’s master sommelier Claudia Tyagi.”
February’s meal will be prepared by River Bistro Chef Max Hardy, whose recipe book, The Marley Coffee Cookbook: One Love, Many Coffees, 100 Recipes, will be available.
