Small shops are the mainstay of our neighborhoods. Open the door and look inside and you will discover dreamers and doers who embody the spirit and energy of Detroit’s entrepreneurial class.
Last October, during minority business month, we invited our readers to meet them inside our Small Shops series sponsored by Comcast Business.
We were proud to shine an oft-needed spotlight on the many small and minority-owned businesses helping fuel neighborhood recovery efforts. Together, they define our character and create a city vibe that is uniquely Detroit.
And, now, we are inviting neighborhood business owners and their supporters to gather and be recognized for their efforts and contributions in creating the kind of community character that defines Detroit at a special Small Shops Panel Discussion and Reception on March 16 at 5 p.m.
The event, which is open to the public, will be held at Comcast’s Xfinity Store and reception center located at 3907 Woodward Ave (at Selden Street).
If you are a Detroit-based business owner that feels you have a story to tell, we encourage you to attend this event and meet our team of reporters ready to chronicle your business success.
Participants will have an opportunity to network and be a part of our Small Business Panel hosted by TheHUB Publisher Jackie Berg and Small Talk Host Mark S. Lee.
Panelists include:
Jill Ford, Head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, City of Detroit
Kenneth Harris, PhD President & CEO, Michigan Black Chamber
Regina Ann Campbell, Managing Director of Place-based Entrepreneurship, TechTown
Kathy Wendler, Executive Director, Southwest Detroit Business Association
These small shops make a big difference in our neighborhoods. We invite you to come out and support them.
